General
What cars do you tune?
+
Everything. We tune GM, Ford, Dodge, Honda, Acura, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Scion, BMW, Porsche, and more. If you're not sure whether we support your specific platform, check the Pricing page or reach out and we'll let you know.
What days and hours are you open?
+
We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. We are closed Sunday and Monday. Walk-ins are not accepted — all dyno sessions require an appointment.
Where are you located?
+
We are located at 300 Quay Ave, Wilmington, CA 90744 — in the Los Angeles / South Bay area. You can reach us at (310) 518-4966.
Do I need an appointment?
+
Yes — all dyno sessions require an appointment and a $200 deposit to hold your slot. You can book online through the Schedule a Tune page or call us directly. Walk-ins are not accepted.
Do you do mechanical work or install parts?
+
No. We are a dyno tuning shop only. We do not perform mechanical repairs, part installations, oil changes, or any general automotive work. Your car needs to arrive ready to tune. If you need parts installed before your appointment, please have that done at a separate shop beforehand.
How long does a dyno tune take?
+
Most dyno sessions run 2 to 3 hours depending on the platform, modification level, and complexity of the tune. Standalone ECU tunes and heavily modified cars may take longer. The duration is reflected when you select your software during the booking process.
Scheduling & Deposit
How does the online booking work?
+
Go to the Schedule a Tune page and fill out the 5-step form. You'll enter your info, vehicle details, tuning software, pick a date and time, and pay the $200 deposit. Once payment goes through your slot is confirmed and we'll see it on our end immediately. You'll also receive a confirmation email.
What does the $200 deposit cover?
+
The $200 deposit holds your slot and goes toward the total cost of your tune on the day of your appointment. It is not an additional charge — it is deducted from the final balance when you come in.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
+
Contact us as soon as possible at (310) 518-4966 or churchautotest@gmail.com. If we are able to reschedule you we will apply the deposit to your new appointment. Cancellations are handled on a case by case basis.
Can I book over the phone?
+
Yes. Call us at (310) 518-4966 during business hours and we can get you scheduled. Keep in mind that online bookings are processed immediately and are the fastest way to secure your slot.
Dyno Tuning
What dyno do you use?
+
We use a Dynapack hub dyno. Unlike roller dynos, the Dynapack connects directly to your wheel hubs, eliminating tire slip and producing more accurate, repeatable results. We have both an AWD dyno and a 2WD dyno on site.
What's the difference between the AWD and 2WD dyno?
+
The AWD dyno is used for all-wheel drive vehicles and high-powered 2WD vehicles making over 700 wheel horsepower. The 2WD dyno is used for front or rear-wheel drive vehicles under 700 whp. The booking system automatically determines which dyno your car needs based on your drivetrain and power level.
My car makes over 700whp — which dyno do I need?
+
Any 2WD vehicle making over 700 wheel horsepower goes on the AWD dyno for safety. The booking system handles this automatically — just enter your estimated wheel horsepower and the correct dyno will be assigned.
Do I need a basemap before my dyno tune?
+
If your car has never been tuned before, we strongly recommend getting a basemap first. A basemap gets your car running safely on a known calibration before the dyno session, which makes your dyno time more efficient. $200 of the $250 basemap cost goes toward your tune. If you already have a tune or are coming in for a re-tune, a basemap is not required.
Can you tune my car if it was already tuned by someone else?
+
Yes. We can tune over an existing tune or clean up someone else's work. Keep in mind that we do not warranty tunes we did not originally create. If we start from scratch on your car our full tune performance warranty applies.
What tuning software do you support?
+
We support a wide range of platforms including:
  • HP Tuners — GM, Ford, Dodge
  • Hondata — Honda, Acura (S300, Kpro, Flashpro)
  • Uprev — Nissan (370Z, G35, G37, 350Z)
  • Ecutek — Subaru BRZ, Toyota GR86/GR Corolla, Nissan Q50/Q60/GTR
  • Cobb Accessport / Access Tuner — Subaru WRX/STI, Porsche, Nissan GTR, Ford
  • BM3 / MHD — BMW N54, N55, B58, S58, S55
  • Stand Alone ECUs — contact us for a quote
Not sure what software your car uses? Visit our Need Help? page.
Do you tune automatic transmissions?
+
It depends on the platform and software. Some automatic and DCT transmissions are supported. Contact us with your specific year, make, model, and transmission type and we'll let you know if we can help.
Does my car need to be stock to get tuned?
+
No. We tune stock cars, lightly modified cars, and heavily modified builds. The more information you give us about your mods during booking the better prepared we'll be. The only requirement is that your car is mechanically sound — we will not tune a car with known mechanical issues.
Basemaps
What is a basemap and do I need one?
+
A basemap is a starting calibration built specifically for your car and your modifications. It gets your car running safely before a full dyno tune. If your car has never been tuned or you've recently added major modifications, a basemap is a smart first step. $200 of the $250 basemap cost goes toward your dyno tune if you come in.
How do I send you my factory ROM for HP Tuners?
+
You'll need an HP Tuners interface (MPVI2 or MPVI3) connected to your car. Open VCM Editor, go to Flash → Read Vehicle, save the file, and email it to us. Full instructions are on the Basemaps page with a link to HP Tuners' official guide.
What does "up to 3 revisions" mean?
+
After we deliver your basemap, you can request up to 3 rounds of revisions if something needs to be adjusted. Simply email us with your feedback and we'll update the map and send it back.
How long does it take to get my basemap?
+
Basemaps are delivered within two business days of receiving your order and all required files. Keep in mind that if you order on a Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday, turnaround begins the following Tuesday.
E-Tuning
What is e-tuning and how does it work?
+
E-tuning is remote tuning done entirely over email. You don't need to come to the shop. Here's the process:
  • You purchase the e-tune and submit your car details
  • We send you a basemap within 72 hours
  • You flash it to your car and capture datalogs while driving
  • You email us the logs
  • We analyze and send back a revised tune
  • Repeat until your car is dialed in
What cars qualify for e-tuning?
+
We currently support the following platforms for e-tuning:
  • Subaru WRX FA20/FA24 — Cobb Accessport required
  • Toyota FRS / Subaru BRZ — Ecutek required
  • Honda / Acura Flashpro vehicles — Hondata Flashpro required
  • All MHD supported BMWs — MHD app required
Your car must have a functioning factory wideband and be capable of full-time closed loop operation.
What do I need on my end to get an e-tune?
+
You'll need:
  • The appropriate tuning app or software (Cobb Accessport, Ecutek license, Hondata Flashpro, or MHD)
  • A stock or mechanically healthy engine
  • A functioning factory wideband O2 sensor
  • A safe location to do wide open throttle pulls for datalogs
  • A computer and email to transfer maps and logs
What is the 4-week time limit?
+
You have 4 weeks from the date of purchase to complete your e-tune. The timer starts the moment payment is received — not when we send the basemap. This keeps the process moving and ensures we can give every customer our full attention. Do not purchase an e-tune if you are going on vacation, deployment, or will be unavailable within the next 4 weeks.
Liability & Warranty
Do you warranty the tune?
+
Yes — we warranty the performance of the tune for as long as you own the vehicle, provided no parts have changed since the tune was completed. If you experience tune-related issues such as idle problems, abnormal startup behavior, or strange running conditions and you haven't changed any hardware, we will address it at no charge. We do not warranty engines, transmissions, or mechanical components. Read the full terms on our Liability & Warranty page.
What happens if I change parts after my tune?
+
If you change any parts that affect how your engine runs — turbo, injectors, fuel pump, intake, exhaust, intercooler, etc. — the tune warranty is void and a new tune or revision will be required. The tune was built around your specific setup at the time of your dyno session.
Does the warranty transfer if I sell the car?
+
No. The tune warranty applies to the original customer only and does not transfer to a new owner if the vehicle is sold.
